Don't underestimate!

The exam is a lot harder than I thought. Questions were rather complex. I had questions where you need to know some switches/parameters from popular tools, like snort and netcat. Make sure you know how Ethereal works (like display filters). You need to know the characteristics of some threats (old and new), like virusses, trojans (netbus, subseven), and attacks (land, smurf!, ping of death, floppyscan, etc). Lot of these are prehistoric and most systems are no more vulnerable but it's very essential to understand hacking in general and some countermeasuers. I had some Buffer overflow questions, about cpu registers, and Java (it's less vulnerable). I passed the exam with 84% but I needed 4 hours and 15 minutes (in some countrys other than USA en GB you get 4:30).
tough but passable

The need to know with of the multitude of tools covered by the exam does what, talks on which port alters which protocol can be daunting. I took the course but got the most out of the Exam Cram Book. Know nmap, icmp, tcp header flags, snort, and the trojans.

Not that Hard but guys you need to concentrate on NMAP, netcat, Snort. You get enough time to solve questions
Know your tools

Hard Exam. Know your tools, know their command line switches, know how to convert between hex, binary, and decimal, etc... Gray Hat Hacking ( a bit advanced and you could just use the other two), Certified Ethical Hacker Exam Prep (just came out this month), and
Anti-Hacker Tool Kit are good study sources. I don't think you need ECCouncil's offical study guide and the offical study guide has "grammar issues".
Cramsession studyguide or the megaguide is useful for this test. Boson test prep was decent. The Preplogic test prep was a bit off and a bit harder than what you will see (which may be good or bad depending on how you look at it).
pretty hard exam.........

I studied hardcore for about 2 weeks... using Learnkeys interactive studies and then some in-depth pdf's explaining each subject area in detail, scheduled to take the test, took it and failed with a 65% (missed the cut off by 5%) So I was really close... missed by about 9 questions. Took me about 2.5 hours to complete all 125 questions and half of them I had no clue! Challenging test! I'm taking it again tomorrow (6Apr2006) so I should pass!

Study Big time!!

I studied big time for this one and came away with an 80% Know SQL injection inside out. I was drilled real hard on code etc. Also command line switches for many different programs. NMap being a major one. I wouldn't even attempt this one unless you have been deep into hacking and countermeasures for several years!
Beware!!
CEH Exam

The exam isn't a walk in the park and should not be attempted unless you have good knowledge and experience in the majority of the fields the course covers. I barely passed the exam (70.2%) and the pass mark is 70%.
