CompTIA’s Project+ (2003) exam PK0-002 is the
only exam required to achieve the Project+ certification. It is meant for mid
to advanced-level IT professionals who are, or desire to be, skilled project
managers. It has no prerequisites, but of course some project management
experience would be beneficial.
This exam may be taken from Pearson Vue or Thomson Prometric. In terms of
cost: “Prices of CompTIA exams vary, depending
upon the country you are taking the test in and your membership status. In the US, prices range
from $93 USD to $225 USD.”
The passing score is 499
points. This exam is in conventional format, consisting of 80 identification
and situational multiple choice questions, and has a duration of 90 minutes.
the exam has many new questions. i used practise exams, CAPM/PMP study guides. I also used In'fm Tech' Project Mgmt by Kathy Schwalbe. All the Practise exams available in ebay may not answer everything you need, i found many new questions today when i took the exam.
But for many questions, you just have to go with a gut feeling that your answers are right. or make a good guess.
Most are scenario/situation based questions. In a nutshell, to pass may be easy (getting 499) but scoring more is difficult.
Easy with practice tests!

My suggestion: Don't just rely on one source to pass this exam. I highly recommend investing in practice tests. I found one on Ebay with 200 questions. The practice test from Ebay combined with the practice test in the Sybex book is what I used to pass the Exam.
Not bad....

The exam isn't terribly evil. You just need the right materials. The Sybex book is not very organizaed at all and confused me a lot. I used the Joeseph Phillips book on IT PM to help good a good grasp of PM concepts that are outside of my job. Then use a test engine by Transcenders which helps teach you the information. I felt well prepared for the test.
very hard

Hard Exam

I rate this exam hard. It gives you a couple of good possible answers and you have to figure out the best answer.
Not Hard - Why The Hype?
johntaro on Thursday, July 27, 2006
Purchased the CompTIA Press Project+ book directly from CompTIA Store, also used Tr***cender. Passed well above the minimum score using these self-study aids. The CompTIA Press book and training CBT are pretty good, but accompanying practice questions are useless (Tr***cender practice exam far superior). A good share of the Project+ questions are based on knowledge of general business, communications and leadership. Anyone with corporate work experience, a little common sense & test-taking savvy, should be able to answer many Project+ questions with ease.
Very subjective
nnotomi on Thursday, July 13, 2006
Just like Network+ exam, some questions were subjective and I had trouble narrowing answers down to one correct answer. The pass mark is low (499 out of 900) so if you study hard you'll be right
Deceptive
dmj_tech on Thursday, June 08, 2006
This is a deceptive exam. The questions arent hard individually, just very selective and very wide ranging. Best to just study as much as you find, make sure you know that well, and with the relatively low passing grade, you will be okay with guessing on the ones you don't know. But be sure to know what you studied very well, dont miss those. I passed on the first time, thats what I did, and many questions (1 in 4) I hadnt ever seen before, not even remotely.
Hard exam but gets no respect

Project+ is a hard exam. Just because this is a CompTIA exam, do NOT sleep on this one. Its hard.
Its worth doing if you are getting into project mgmt, but its biggest problem is that people don't recognize it like PMP.
I think it only has "true value" if you have BOTH the PMP and Project+. Both of those certs look good on a resume.
Project+ harder than PMP
adelapaz on Monday, October 10, 2005
Just took and passed the Project+ exam, but it seemed much harder than the PMP exam. Many of the questions are subjective. The only preparation material I used was the CompTIA approved Project+ Study Guide from Sybex.
